Biography

www.najfar.com Reza Najfar was born in Tehran. After studying flute and composition in his home country, he continued his flute and composition studies in Holland with Abbie de Quant and in Vienna with Barbara Gisler Haase and Dieter Flury. He studied composition with Morteza Hannaneh, Mehran Rohani, Farid Omran and at the Academy of music in Vienna with Thomas Christian David and Dieter Schrmann. Already in the years of his studies, he was solo-flutist at the orchestra “Vereinigte Bühnen Wien” for 3 years. His concerts took him to many european countries, Japan, Mexico , USA, South Korea and China and Mexico. He contributed to festivals such as “Österreich heute“, the “Takayma Festival” (Japan) and “Musica e Magia” (Mexico) Japan flute festival in Tokyo and flute festival in Kyoto Japan. His soloistic work includes a great number of CDs, “Divertimento Italiano” „Serenata Italiano“ with a focus on works by Mauro Giuliani „Tango Appassionato“ with works of Astor Piazzolla „The Magic Alto Flute“ (La Folia Classics) involves arrangements of Schubert’s songs „The Rare Encore“ , The Other Chopin for flute and piano, Slow Motion for flute and piano .” Rare Encores” . 2008 he was awarded by “Persian Golden Lioness Award “ Award of Excellence in Music from the World Academy of Arts, Literature and Media“ in London. He is professor for flute at the Mozarteum Salzburg (Innsbruck’s Branch) Tiroler Landeskonservatorium Innsbruck and the Prayner Konservatorium in Vienna.
