Biography

Christafari are musicianaries, reaching the lost at any cost, and making disciples of all nations. They share the Gospel through FREE concerts to approximately 20 nations per year! In 1989, Mark Mohr (age 17) encountered God and was released from drug addiction. This led him to start the first Gospel reggae band with the aim of helping others escape the same bondage he overcame through Jesus. At that time, a friend said to Mark, “So you’re not a Rastafarian - you’re a Christafarian.” The name stuck! In Greek, Christafari means a group of people who bear Christ’s name. Mohr is a pastor and is joined onstage by his wife Avion, daughter Ziza, and 6 other musicianaries. Christafari’s first tour was the 46 city ‘95 Reggae Sunsplash Tour! Over the past 35 years, they’ve released over 100 music videos, performed in 90+ nations, 2 Olympic Games, a Presidential Inaugural Ball, and before 500k in DC! In 1998, after releasing 2 CDs on Toby Mac’s Gotee Label, Mohr founded his own record company, Lion of Zion Ent. Christafari are trailblazers. They’ve released dozens of albums, were the first Gospel artist to top Billboard Reggae Charts, with 5 recent releases hitting #1. Christafari has been featured on major TV shows and their music is part of the current curriculum at Carnegie Hall. “We care more about hearts then charts and souls over sales,” says Mohr.
