There’s been a strong contingent of home-grown Portuguese exports putting their stamp on the drum and bass scene of late, and Vowel is a name at the heart of it. His releases may be few and far between at times, but don’t be fooled, because the quality of Vowel’s productions is where this Lisbon-born talent is garnering his reputation from. It’s the reason why he’s already worked with labels including Overview, Invisible and Lifestyle, alongside operating as Surveillance Music’s A&R Manager. While his early releases showed shades of an artist with a drive to make heavy neurofunk, on the road ahead this Vowel is going to sound very different as he embarks on a new chapter filled with experimentation and inspiration from other genres. Expect a beautiful sense of unpredictability from Vowel, and a guarantee of unique D&B geared for the club. You only have to listen to his 2021 Dusk EP to get a sense of where this journey is going.
