Newton Teixeira, brother of the violonista (acoustic guitar player) Valzinho, was a composer and instrumentalist with solid creations recorded by some of the best interpreters of his time. At ten, Teixeira initiated his musical studies on mandolin with Chico Neto. At 14, he started to learn the violão (acoustic guitar). He wrote his first song at 20, "Tudo Me Fala do Teu Olhar" (with Cristóvão de Alencar), recorded by Sílvio Caldas. Francisco Alves recorded the second in 1936, "Ela Disse Adeus" (with Cristóvão de Alencar). In 1938, he had one of the biggest hits of his career with "A Deusa da Minha Rua," recorded by Sílvio Caldas (lyrics by Jorge Faraj), followed by another of his greatest hits, "Errei, Erramos." Before becoming a professional, he accompanied famous singers like Francisco Alves, João Petra de Barros, Sílvio Caldas and Orlando Silva, who recorded several of his songs, at the violão. Amongst them, the march "Mal-me-quer" (with Cristóvão de Alencar), in 1940. He recorded "Quando Eu For Bem Velhinho" (Lupicínio Rodrigues/Felisberto Martins) as a singer, accompanied by Orlando Silva and Sílvio Caldas, followed by "Você Não Tem Palavra," "Onde Estás," "Não Troquemos de Mal," "Se Alguém Disse," "N-a-o-til, Não." His first job in radio was in the Guanabara outing (from 1937 until 1939), where he also performed in the regional. He transferred himself to Tupi, where he worked until 1943. In 1949, he went to Rádio Jornal do Brasil, staying there until 1952. The next move was to Rádio Nacional, where he stayed until 1955, when he abandoned the radio, returning only for special performances. In 1964 recorded another album through Chantecler, A Volta do Seresteiro. In 1969, he had another success with the marcha-rancho "Avenida Iluminada" (Lágrimas de um Coração), with Brasinha.
