After bursting onto the scene in 2010, winning national broadcaster triple j’s “Unearthed” competition Northeast Party House quickly found a devoted following, particularly among their fun-loving millennial peers. A 2011 self-titled EP was followed in 2014 by debut album Any Given Weekend, containing anti-authoritarian anthems “Youth Allowance” and “Any Given Weekend”. In 2016 NPH’s second album Dare revealed the band’s growing maturity and complexity, with the soft and introspective fan favourite “Calypso Beach”. Three years later, at the start of a pandemic the band released “Shelf Life”, a more electronic LP, motivated by a desire to create “huge dance moments” paired with their most thoughtful, personal lyrics yet. Over the past thirteen years, Northeast Party House - often touted as one of the best live acts in Australia - have performed on festival stages and sold out headline gigs throughout Australia as well as playing to thousands of fans across Europe and the US. 2024 is shaping up to big year for the band with the recent release of singles Brain Freeze and Wish We Could, illustrating NPH’s growing interest in pop and electronic music, it feels like the next big step for Northeast Party House is right around the corner.
