Jack began listening to dance music at 12 years old and fell in love with the big room sounds being used by Afrojack, Sidney Samson and Laidback Luke. He began to practise making beats on Fruity Loops from his bedroom in Dunfermline, Scotland where the pair both grew up as children. Taylor on the contrary grew up in a home that she describes as “never silent”, either listening to her Dad play guitar or playing his extensive collection of music around the house. She remembers finding a love in songwriting through the stories told in music by Crowded House, KT Tunstall and Fleetwood Mac. The pair met and and began working together on ideas, forming THAT KIND. Taylor’s love for soaring power-pop harmonies and melodies meshed with Jack’s dance floor-focused energies and their boy-girl duet vocals now lead the way. THAT KIND are confident of their place in the contemporary dance scene: where they play back-to-back DJ sets with a commercial house pulse. Their song-writing, singing and production techniques have grown up leading to notable releases including ‘Lights Go Down’, ‘One Last Time’ and most recently ‘Summer in Love’ with over 30 million combined streams. In reaching a worldwide audience of dance fans young and old, all dreaming of dancing in fields once again, THAT KIND hopes that their music will give people what they’ve been longing for all summer – that tender, hopeful unity. THAT KIND’s new single ‘Summer in Love’ is Out Now.
