Biography

HEVIA, the international bagpiper inventor of the electronic bagpipes, has revolutionized popular music by exporting it beyond our borders after selling more than 2.5 million albums worldwide. He has won Gold and Platinum albums in Italy, Hungary, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark or New Zealand, among other countries. HEVIA has numerous national and international awards such as "National Exhibition of Folk Music for Young Performers", "Memorial Remos Ovalle", "Ondas", "Amigo" and several "Spanish Music Awards", "Rencontres Internationales de Luthiers et Maîtres Sonneurs" in St. Chartier (France), "Bowmore" of Lorient (France), "Rock & Trend" in Festival of San Remo (Italy), "Die Goldene Stimmgabel" in Germany, and the prestigious "Multiplatinum Award" in Belgium, which is awarded to all those artists who manage to sell more than one million albums in Europe. Now, he is presenting his new project "Al Son del Indianu" as a result of Hevia's years of searching for the best way to fuse the traditional sound of the bagpipes with the myriad wealth of Caribbean musical genres. Hevia, like the Indianos pipers before him, has shared many hours of practice with Dominican and Cuban musicians, and the result is a fusion of Asturian pipes with Latin American rhytms that sound completely natural.
