Originally formed by Regina, the drag alter ego of Canadian musician Gentleman Reg, and James Bunton (Ohbijou), in 2009, Light Fires released their debut 7” single in 2010. In 2012 the band contributed their cover of the Eric’s Trip song ‘Happens All The Time’ to the Canadian compilation Have Not Been The Same. James stopped performing live shortly after completing their debut album FACE, to focus on his recording studio. The album FACE was released in 2013 independently and Regina has performed the material predominantly solo. Having toured extensively all over Canada and Europe with the likes of Diamond Rings, Peaches, Big Freedia, Fucked Up, Hercules & The Love Affair, The Handsome Furs, MEN, and The Hidden Cameras, the band also released 6 music videos from FACE, and Regina has made cameos in videos by Kevin Drew (Mexican Aftershow Party) and the Darcys (Chasing The Fall), as well as the film Portrait of a Serial Monogamist performing the Light Fires song ‘Let’s Get Divorced’. In 2014/2015 Regina toured her one woman cabaret show across Canada and into the U.S. which featured songs from FACE, but was predominantly comedic spoken word. In 2018 the band released the one off single ‘When Did You Stop Having My Back’ featuring guest vocals by Vivek Shraya. In 2018 Regina began using the name Regina Gently and has subsequently been preparing a solo album for release under that name.
