Biography

The iconic Rhombus sound is a seamless blend of electronic soul, funk, dub and bass and reggae. They’ve forged a well-deserved reputation and following among New Zealand and international audiences for their eclectic, original and energetic live shows. www.rhombus.co.nz The core Rhombus production crew comprises band founders and performers Thomas Voyce, Simon Rycroft and Koa Williams. Rhombus actively expand and collaborate with a collective of local and internationally based musicians and artists, together bringing a powerful and soulful voice in joining their musical styles and influences. Rhombus have performed alongside bands such as Fat Freddy's Drop, Kora, Shapeshifter, Jose Gonzalez, St Germain, Dry and Heavy, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Gomez, and many more. The causes that Rhombus have given their time to include the Peace Boat, which band co-founders Simon Rycroft and Thomas Voyce have been involved with throughout 2006. Their travels on the Japan-based global NGO Peace Boat have taken them through the Caribbean and across the Pacific, spreading the values of sustainability, cooperation and peace from a chartered ship. The original Rhombus crew have returned to the studio in 2020 to celebrate two decades since the collective was founded. With the generous support of Creative New Zealand (CNZ), they have crafted material for a fourth studio album, along with a second “Remixes and Archives” album. Both are due for release early 2021.
