São Paulo Chamber Soloists (SPCS) was created by two prominent musicians of the Brazilian classical music scene, Matthew Thorpe (principal violinist of the São Paulo State Symphony) and Alejandro Aldana (concertmaster of the São Paulo Municipal Theater Orchestra) . With the goal of achieving the highest possible artistic quality, SPCS is composed of 14 string soloists with broad international experience, including leaders of São Paulo´s top orchestras. In its pursuit of musical excellence, SPCS aims to explore traditional and non traditional repertoire, ranging from baroque, classical, romantic to contemporary music, with a special focus on composers from underrepresented communities. SPCS develops projects with consecrated Brazilian composers such as Clarice Assad, João Guilherme Ripper, Felipe Senna, Léa Freire, Alexandre Guerra and Silvia Goes. Recepients of the 2020 PROAC History of Musical Achievement Award, São Paulo Chamber Soloists follows the example of the most distinguished chamber orchestras, performing standing and without a conductor, creating a veritable chamber experience of collective musical collaboration.
