Somatic is a dual-heritage Sound Artist originally from Exeter. Combining ethereal textures with dark basslines and upfront percussion, Somatic’s tracks can be deceivingly complex. He’s most well known for Jungle track “Fighting Fear” (500k+ streams) released (2021) on PAV4N’s (Foreign Beggars) 4NCY label which gained attention and support from the likes of: Talvin Singh, Bobby Friction, Rene LaVice, Invadhertz, Yung Singh, Gracie T and more. Coming off the back of playing sets in Mumbai & Bangalore (India 23), Somatic’s energetic DJ style (as seen at Glastonbury Festival (2019) and Boomtown Fair (2022)) has evolved from his Jungle/DnB origins. His sets are rooted in UK sound system culture but traverse the globe; Double-dropping Punjabi Garage with UK Funky, Highlife with Breaks, Arabic percussion tracks with Techno, Somatic doesn't get stopped by border control. He’s a 1020 Radio resident (1st Sunday of the month 5-6pm), has supported artists such as Shy FX, Dimensions, Friction, My Nu Leng, and has had guest mixes radio stations such as BBC South West (UK), Balamii (UK), 1020 Radio (UK), Boxout FM (IN), and more. Other work includes; Sonic Landscapes of Colour - a 2-part (ARIA Nominated, BBC Broadcast) audio-documentary sharing the stories of Young People of Colour who have grown up in the South West, The VR film “Child of Empire” (Sundance film festival premiere), The play Daytime Deewane (OFFIE Finalist).
