Marlayne Sahupala (Marlayne) is a Dutch singer as well as television presenter. She fell in love with music at a young age and graduated Cum Laude at the conservatory. In 1999 Marlayne represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Jeruzalem with her song ‘One Good Reason’. Marlayne ended up placing eighth out of 23 entries. Participating in the Eurovision Song Contest was the start of Marlayne’s solo career. After her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999, Marlayne remained connected to the contest. She was the spokesperson for the Netherlands in 2000, 2001 and 2003, and she was a member of the Dutch national jury in 2014. In 2001, Marlayne released her album Meant to Be. The years after, she stayed active in the music industry and performs solo as well as in bands and groups. Next to her music career, Marlayne also became active in other work fields. She does studio work and voice-overs, she is a television presenter for Dutch TV-channel SBS6, she is a marriage official, and she is ambassador of the Habitat for Humanity foundation.
