Papi Chulo & su Groupo Invisible is the new electro-tropical project from Mariano Franco, a truly self-taught artist who has been working in the Montreal music industry for several years. First a member of a hardcore band in his native Mexico, he graduated in film production at Concordia University, an experience that led him to work on various projects, including directing documentaries, short-films music videos as well as composing music for film, television, video installations and theatre. He added to his Montreal stage experience when he joined The Psychotropical Orchestra, which led to tours across Quebec, Canada and Mexico, as well as a notable presence at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Travelling through a psychedelic musical universe sporting reggae and rock influences, Franco took his place alongside a community of electro-latino DJs who introduced him to a tropical aesthetic and a psychedelic punk attitude. These combined experiences led him to the creation of his project Papi Chulo & su Groupo Invisible in 2017, whose first album seduced audiences in Montreal and Toronto. His new tropi-punk album Ritmo de lo Habitual takes the body and mind on a wild tropical journey. The album, with its Latin and funk influences, features numerous collaborations with international artists such as Etienne Lebele, Omar Diaz Herrera, Fernando Pinzon, Ultra K, Stephanie Ozorio and Nagano Morro.
