Active since the mid-2010s, Magic One has recalled the likes of Marvin Sease and Charlie Wilson while distinguishing himself in the Southern soul-blues scene. The singer and songwriter, born Duane Marquez Harris, started his recording career with support from T.K. Soul. During 2014 and 2015, he was featured on some of T.K. Soul's holiday-themed material and headlined his own singles, including "It's the Weekend" and "One on One/I Can Do Magic." These tracks, along with 2016's "The Baddest" and 2017's "High Heels & Jeans," led a 2018 album entitled The Magic Show, which brought a new level of attention to "High Heels & Jeans" thanks to an alternate version featuring Vick Allen, Avail Hollywood, LJ Echols, and Wendell B. Within two years, One followed up with The Magic Show II, a grittier set with Fat Daddy and Crystal Thomas among the featured guests. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
