Andrew James Van Ostade (Antwerp, 1988) started drumming from an early age. He discovered his love for theatre at the Steinerschool in Antwerp. During this time, he was drummer and percussionist in a few indie bands. One of these, School Is Cool, won in 2010 the Humo’sRock Rally, a prestigious Belgian rock contest. His career as a professional musician was launched. For the next 5 years, he released two albums and toured around Europe with School Is Cool. In 2016, Andrew auditioned as a musician and performer for the 24-hour performance Mount Olympus. To Glorify the Cult of Tragedy of Troubleyn/Jan Fabre. During this performance, he plays the part of the explosive half-god Dionysos and composed the title twerk song together with composer Dag Taeldeman. This historical tour-de-force of the tragedy is still touring all over the world. In Jan Fabre’s newest production, Belgian Rules/Belgium Rules, he again combines music and theatre as a composer and performer. Inspired by the new beat music of the 1980s as well as the electronic music of today, he created different original dance pieces for the carnival choreographies in the performance, several soundscapes and even a rap. With his other band It's Like Boo! he delves into the world of geekdom and his love for all things nerdy. It's his own personal playground in which he experiments with videogame inspired music, samples of horror films and the art of nostalgic rap. <br>
