Biography

Lee Hawkins is a songwriter/producer/singer and journalist. His latest project, Gospel Songs by Lee Hawkins, Vol. 1, is a compilation album of tracks Lee wrote and produced, featuring some of his favorite rising recording artists. His previous releases include "Songs About the Birth of Jesus," a full-length Christian album. Lee is also known by the nickname "The Hawk", since he also performs as a friend of the multiplatinum children's group "The Wiggles," and appears both an artist and a songwriter on the Wiggles' "Apples and Bananas" album. He is a Grand Prize Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Most of his adult contemporary/R&B work is co-produced by George Nash Jr. (Eric Benet, Jimmy Sommers, Earth, Wind & Fire), including the "Midnight Conversations" and "Serenade" albums. His songs "Don't Run Away" and "Come With Me (Live with me) are featured on the Cafe De Soul label's Chapter Three compilation album. He was also a winner in the RIAA's Grammy Demo Showcase songwriting competition for "Don't Run Away." Lee is also known for his interviews with top recording artists and celebrities. His music background often helps to spark in-depth on-camera creative discussions about the songwriting and recording process with top stars, including Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, music superproducer Timbaland, rapper J. Cole, songwriter Diane Warren, Lionel Richie, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, T.D. Jakes, BeBe Winans, 50 Cent, J. Cole and Pitbull, among many others.
