With love for the culture that existed beyond the confines of a city known for being “dead” by its inhabitants, Skinny Steve is ready to explode and push his sound to an audience craving new music. Hailing from the frozen north in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Skinny Steve began creating music after being inspired by the minimal and playful beats of The Neptunes and J Dilla. Born at the right time to witness artists like Kanye West and Timbaland begin their ascents into production powerhouses, and belonging to an age class that includes talented Canadian producer KAYTRANADA, Skinny Steve decided it was time to send his music into the ears of the world. “I didn’t like the songs I was hearing on the radio,” he says. “They sounded repetitive after a while, and I wanted to hear something new.
