Adi Darmawan is bassist and composer born in Madura, in 1967. Adi Darmawan studied music at ISI Yogyakarta in 1987 and studied harmony and composition with Haryo Yose Suyoto. In the 90’s Adi Darmawan had joined the Symphony for Band Workshop in Singapore, and worked on music scoring with Didi AGP and Dian HP for films and other television shows in Indonesia. Adi Darmawan was also involved in the Bass Heroes 2 concert at the Jakarta Theatre, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, in 2016. The concert presented 15 Indonesian bassists from various generations. Adi Darmawan is a member of an experimental jazz rock band called LIGRO with Agam Hamzah and Gusti Hendy (GIGI). Adi Darmawan is also a session player who is often called the "bassist of a thousand bands". This is not surprising, considering Adi Darmawan worked for various Jazz groups and other musical genres. Adi Darmawan supports musicians such as Dwiki Darmawan, Gilang Ramadhan (NERA), Donny Suhendra (Donny Suhendra Trio), Dewa Budjana, Fariz RM (Fariz RM Anthology), Riza Arshad (Simak Dialog, Keroncong Tenggara), Iwan Hasan (Iwan Hasan Progjazz Ensemble, Discus), Balawan, Addie MS (Twilite Orchestra), Elfa Secoria, Yovie Widianto (Yovie Widianto Fusion Band), Jockie Suryoprayogo (Jockie Suryoprayogo Rock Opera), Nita Aartsen, Yuri Jo (Yuri Jo Trio), Baron Suprayogi, and Tjahjo Wisanggeni. Today Adi Darmawan is still active as session player for live and recording, also as bass instructor at Farabi Music School.
