The „Orchester Le Phenix“ was founded in 2008 by the cellists Christine Meyer and Mathias Kleiböhmer. They meet with other young musicians to devote themselves to highly challenging programmes. All musicians graduated in both modern an historical instrumental playing. The name of the orchestra derives from a cello concerto by Michel Corrette entitled „le phénix“: Egyptian and Greek mythologies tell the legends of the Benu or Phoenix, who is reborn every day or every 500 years (depending on the source) and brings about the good and the beautiful. In 2010, the first recording of Jean-Louis Duport's cello concerti (soloist Peter Hörr) was released and awarded with the renowned ECHO-Klassik award for the best concerto recording oft the year. The „Orchester Le Phenix“ has performed with soloist such as Christophe Coin, John Holloway, Maurice Steger, Emma Kirkby, Andreas Staier, Sergio Azzolini, Avi Avital and Xenia Löffler. 2011 the orchestra’s second CD "Abdelazer", containing suites by Henry Purcell, was released, 2013 Franz Danzi's flute concertos (with Annie Laflamme), 2015 Georg Christoph Wagenseil's cello concertos (2nd ECHO-Klassik award, with Christophe Coin ), 2018 Boccherini: Stabat Mater (with Núria Rial), 2019 Johann Sebastian Bach's keyboard concertos (with Alena Cherny). Lively interpretations on historical instruments, combined with joy and knowledge inspired the audience in Wien Musikvereinssaal, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Berlin Konzerthaus and Bergen Festival.
