Mitika Kanwar is a hindustani classical vocalist from Indore and Patiala Gharana who has been experimenting with different genres of music. Her signature style has always been a fusion of Indian classical variations with R&B and Lo-fi influences. She is also known for presenting traditional Punjabi folk tunes to today’s audience in a unique way, keeping the elements of original “gayaki” intact and resulting in millions of streams across DSPs. According to her, singing is a form of deep self expression and spiritual practice. “I always wanted to be different from the generic sound and saw myself manifesting experimental style of singing in various genres,” she says. "becoming a famous popstar was never my goal and will never be one because its exciting to make music that people will study. there are too many popstars already out there. We don't need more of them but we need richer music that lives longer."
