Biography

Welsh Music Prize 2023 Winners, Rogue Jones – named after a distinguished canine family descended from Gelert, arguably Wales’ most famous dog – is West Walian duo Bethan Mai and Ynyr Morgan Ifan at its core, although the headcount increases exponentially when playing live. Second album ‘Dos Bebés’ sees the bands’ style maturing, but fortunately maturity has not dampened their spirit of invention. Bilingual, experimental popsters Rogue Jones are at once the impish, excited upstart hanging from the chandelier and the knowing veteran toe-tapping by the bar. "Sparkling, charming and eclectic" -Huw Stephens "It’s the type of album that comes round every now and again where I want to stop strangers in the street and grab them by the lapel and go "you have to get this record" -Gary Raymond "I love this record. It’s so full of ideas and invention and joy” -Jude Rogers They have been Huw Stephens artist of the week on BBC Radio Wales and have been picked up by the Guardian, and been championed on various radio stations including BBC 6 Music, Radio Cymru and Radio stations overseas. Fun but not frivolous, with a fair claim to being the world’s first party band for introverts, Rogue Jones will take you everywhere.
