Biography

Fab Merrett (aka Fabio Mereghetti) is a musician and creative director who loves to play music in a smooth jazz way. Keyboardist and arranger, he has recorded and played around Europe with many groups, above all with Cherry Pickers, the smooth jazz band he founded and that he leads with the glamorous singer Dagmar Segbers. “Pickin’Up The Cherries” is the album that Fab recorded with Dagmar and Cherry Pickers in 2018, from whom many songs are still broadcasted by smooth jazz radios around the world. He loves to play all kind of music that reaches his heart, filtering it through the soul, funky and jazz elements he has assimilated in his life. Fab carries around his concept of “jazzin ‘everything”: re-propose songs from any musical genre in refined and creative “smooth” arrangements. An example of this is his last project “Golden Smooth Jazz Oldies", a series of elegant smoothjazz renditions of '60s songs, arranged and developed with the guitarist Al Warren. They revisit both popular international hits and some forgotten tunes that today's audience can rediscover in these versions by Merrett & Warren. New in “Golden Smooth Jazz Oldies" is that most of the songs have never been revisited by artists in the smooth jazz genre; thus, some of the album's tracks, which have always been considered simply "pop", may now become new "standards". Fab also worked as creative director for Warner Bros. from 1979 to 2013, so that he has always lived the musical world even “from the inside”
