Biography

Arno Peeters (1969) is an autodidactic composer and sound artist. Having worked his way from early mono cassette-compositions to full fletched surround soundscapes, he connected with all kinds of scenes along the way; his first act was called Voltage Control, an electronic/EBM duo with Tibor Fülöp. Both were students at the Centre for Electronic Music (CEM) in the Netherlands during the late '80's. Although strongly influenced by the first acid-house that reached the European mainland, it was meant to be an Electronic Body Music project. Together with Sander Friedeman, he founded Random XS and with Frank de Groodt he formed Urban Electro. Solo he operated as Spasms (or Sp@sms) and (more obscurely) The Implant on the local U-Trax label. It is on U-Trax where you'll find new releases this summer from Sp@sms alias: his Unidentified Urban EP featuring Cosmic Force & Bloody Mary remixes, as well as the From the 20th Century Box album. Showcasing years of sonic exploration stemming from his time in various groups including RandomXS and Voltage Control amongst others, the LP also draws from his experience studying and teaching music at the Centre for Electronic Music as well as his work in project-based sound design.
