Biography

Her father named her Asha at birth, and she embodies the true meaning of life: She was raised in an Atlanta suburb, sheltered from the bleak world, where she was allowed to grow in peace with the music (la musica). Throughout her interviews and music, she emphasizes that your refraction, not reflection, is the most important part of who you are. Who you see in the mirror is who you are in the physical. And who you are when light gleams on you is "you," the essence. Thinking of life abstractly is one of her intricacies. Reflection involves a change in direction when bounced off a barrier. Refraction is a change in direction as you pass from one medium to another. Take your time to listen to what Asha creates sonically and watch what she does lights on and off. Her sultry voice will not disappoint you, and her production selection is equally captivating. She is the medium. Sit back, relax and refract. The colors of light are infinite through refraction, yet they all come from the same source. Thus I cannot detach myself from the wickedest soul, nor fail to identify with the most virtuous. - Dalai Lama
