Andrius Šiurys - composer of electronic, academic instrumental, and applied music; member of and performer with various groups. In Šiurys’ work, musicality intertwines with surrealism, expressions of the absurd, various images, and peculiar masks. The word “dream” – a bright line of insomiac-night-mysticism – is often repeated in his program titles, as well as the language of metaphor and symbol. Language itself has a very important presence in his musical expressions: textual excerpts, epigraphs, and poems commonly appear at the beginnings of his scores. Aleatory fragments of the scores are often paired with various images, including drawings by the artist Paulina Simutyte.
