DMAD, born Andrew “Drew” Hubbel, is a rapper/singer-songwriter from Kansas City. DMAD has been writing music since he was just 6 years old, when he would put on concerts for his mother and brother- the stage being a wooden platform in his room. In August 2019, DMAD began releasing music independently. He began by recording music in his car, using only his iPhone and a USB microphone his father had bought for him. Little did he know, those late hours recording in his car would soon pay off in a major way. In April 2020, DMAD released a record titled “World is Spinning,” one of many recordings from his car. A year later it became a trending sound on TikTok, and that’s when the song really took off. Eventually it would accumulate over 100 million streams worldwide and chart in 52 countries, peaking at #4 in Italy and #16 on the Spotify Global Charts. Now, the charting artist has his sights set on developing his craft and further establishing himself in the industry. Inspired by the likes of Mac Miller, Kid Cudi, and Lil Wayne, his music is packed with introspective lyrics shared over smooth flows which are filled with creative metaphors and wordplay. “My mission is to do for others what artists have done for me,” says DMAD, “I want to give listeners someone to relate to when they feel as if they can’t relate to anyone. I want to be the person that I needed when I was younger.”
