ninu the penguin is the musical project of Bangladeshi native Afnan Rahman. ninu is the stage name of Afnan where he writes, producers & creates music to express himself as much as he like - genre-bending his way while existing on the cloud spectrum of the indie-pop genre. Many have likened his musical identity with artists such as Owl City & Rex Orange County, while super-group Superorganism is touted of being a big inspiration for ninu. Exuding positivity despite adversity, ninu exudes summer vibes & bright skies whilst being rooted in the darkness of reality. Having spent his formative years in Dhaka, he moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he became a part of Malaysian pop band Paperplane Pursuit in the early-2010s as a producer & bassist. They went became one of the most successful pop bands in Malaysia in that era, even charting on the Billboard 100 in 2015. Post his Paperplane Pursuit days, he went on to mentor, produce & write for top Malaysian artists such as Talitha & lost spaces; who amassed around 25 million streams and views across all digital platforms under his guidance. Afnan then moved to Australia after getting married to the love of his live where he makes music from his home studio in Brisbane with their cute doggo Ollie. He has a weakness for coffee and cake, plus an obsession for unicorns
