The Florida artist’s style is truly something to behold, not only in its presentation, but in its uniqueness as well. Images of spiritual battles fought, man being pushed to the very brink of his own pathos, obstacles of the mind surmounted and collapsed, all exist within Rey Sparta’s bombastic and explosive sound. With a visual aesthetic akin to that of a hip-hop tarot card deck, Rey’s presence on the scene is one that cannot be overlooked or forgotten. As far as the sound goes, it stands as tall as the imagery does. An interwoven volley of head-smashing anthems suited for an underground venue’s battleground of a mosh pit alongside tender, pained recollections of love lost all exist in unison in the Orlando mystic’s catalogue. It is true, the role of the craftsman is often-overlooked, but that has never been a good reason for Rey Sparta to cut any corners in his unyielding musical vision and message.
