Hailing from Ghana, Augustina “MS.ABA” Austin is a multi-entertainer: a singer/songwriter, music artist, award winning radio personality & broadcaster who introduces Afrocentric soul, a fusion of West-African rhythms on a foundation of gospel sung in English, Pidgin English and Twi. Influenced by her Ghanaian heritage, she grew up drawing inspirations from musicians like Lauryn Hill, Kojo Antwi, Asa, Koo Nimo, Sony Okunso and more. This is recognisable in her sound. Started dancing at young age in the Netherlands, she discovered her first love as a singer in her teens when she joined a gospel hip hop group at her local church in the Netherlands. "Rooted" the EP (October 2020) and "Like Gold" (2023) are compilation of songs that explore the different genres the songstress grew up listening to. Determined to make an international impact with a refreshing sound, MS ABA’s upcoming EP of the name, ‘Like Gold’ explores what the artist has coined as ‘Afropean’ culture; a new-skool connection between Ghana and the Netherlands that fuses rhythms, fashion and performance. The ‘Like Gold’ EP will continue MS ABA’s agenda to unify the global African diaspora and present an open-minded approach to making and sharing music and culture to new audiences both in the Netherlands and beyond.
