Born and raised in the Bay Area, multifaceted singer MXKA comes from biracial parents; a mother from Mexico and a Black father from Louisiana. Her duality speaks to not only her background but in her repertoire of musical styles such as House, Rock, Afro, Latin Soul, and much more. 
 The bilingual artist can harmonize in both Spanish and English, offering listeners a chance to experience her versatility sometimes within the same song. Not fully fitting into any one genre, nor wanting to, MXKA embraces her role as an artist of color who wants to pave the way for other mixed-race barrier breakers.
