Greek clarinetist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Panos Skouteris was born in Athens. A traveller and researcher of the aesthetics of traditional music and the old ways of living, Panos started as an ethnomusicologist with several field recordings and projects around the Greek countryside. For the last few years, he has lived and made music in the Netherlands with his folk instruments, memories and some very new collaborations. He recently released his first personal duet album, Azizie alongside the talented Arash Badie on the Iranian tar. The vision for such an album came from the need to perform this old music lively and rediscover the meaning of every single phrase of this chosen repertoire on the spot. “Without cutting and trimming, every little tutti and well-rehearsed phrasing, every single mistake, every deep breath and every pluck that hits the strings or sound from the wooden surfaces of this historical temple is an ingredient to the beauty of the moment. This beauty reminds us of the importance of our presence in the moment. We are thrilled to share with you the distillate of a mutual studying and refining process and a friendship that is growing through the music and the immigration, while we are seeking «Azizie». Our roots shape the path. The path that will guide us further.”
