Known as the “Queen of K-pop”, BoA made her debut with ‘ID: Peace B’ in 2000 and is recognized as a K-pop pioneer due to her large global influence and spread of Korean pop culture. She is an icon for the international success of K-pop as one of the first to break into the international music scene. BoA has made numerous record-breaking achievements beginning with becoming the youngest female artist to be named ‘Best Artist’ at a major year-end music festival in Korea. She became the first Korean artist to reach No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon Album chart, and the first Korean artist to become a million-seller in Japan. She also set records at the MTV Asia Awards as an artist co-representing both Korea and Japan and became the first Korean artist to enter Billboard 200 in 2009 upon releasing her 1st LP ‘BoA’. BoA is also known for her talent in songwriting and producing as proven through her numerous self-composed songs. Recently she produced aespa’s remake of S.E.S’ 1998 hit track ‘Dreams Come True’, which received positive response for adding young energy and hip vibe to the original. In July 2020, BoA celebrated her 20th debut anniversary with the release of her 10th LP, ‘BETTER’ which topped various Korean and international music charts. The LP was named the “Best K-pop Album of 2020” by Billboard. Most recently, BoA performed as a member of GOT the beat, the first unit of SM’s ‘Girls On Top (GOT)’ attracting worldwide attention for the unit’s powerful vocals and performance.
