Biography

A Franco-Flemish composer who was active at Cambrai Cathedral. His motet "Venite populi terrae" (Come people of the earth) was written to celebrate Charles V on his way to Ghent. Courtois was considered to rank amng the company of Josquin and Obrecht. The chansons written by this Renaissance composer were scored for four voices, five or six voices and as occasional music.
