Born at Ga-Ramokoka, North West and raised on the mean streets of Brits, North West , Tshiamo Tlhalefang Matius Mlangeni, AKA Dopey Da Deejay, started his musical journey when his brother would play mixtapes to him while he was in his mother's womb. It was at this moment that Dopey knew he wanted to be part of 'The Scene'. He first became interested in the electronic music scene in 2001. In 2011, aged 14, his Mom and Dad bought him his first set of decks. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as Brits, North West 's answer to DJ Hype. He did various warm up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as DJ Jaivane, Vigro Deep, DJ Zinhle, and many more. In 2016, he achieved his big break when Dopey Da Deejay realised he was big in the game. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big events such as OSKIDO Home Coming, Jericho Shutdown and 0264 picnic Market . After receiving several offers, Dopey Da Deejay joined La Familia Records, who helped distribute his first internet release, 'Boomerang" in 2020. Though the single didn't sell as many as he probably would have liked, Dopey Da Deejay is a fighter and since 2020 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft. Suffice to say, the House Music scene should be expecting big things from Dopey Da Deejay in 2021.
