Biography

As a solo artist and one-fourth of The Anonymous, Vesuveo remains one of hip-hop’s best kept secrets, a prolific, ever evolving rapper/producer/visual artist who’s worked with Eminem, DJ Drez, Cut Chemist of Jurassic 5, Rakaa of Dilated Peoples, The Grouch and Living Legends and shared the stage with KRS-One, Black Eyed Peas, and Biz Markie while exhibiting his award-winning artwork in galleries and museums across the U.S. Born and raised in New York, Vesuveo burst on the scene rapping with Eminem on the underground classic “Green and Gold,” which rose to #9 on US Rap charts in 1998. Since then, he has synthesized sight, sound, and story into an extensive collection of critically acclaimed albums, projects, collaborations, and exhibitions. Known for his lyrical flow, real life subject matter, and rugged, atmospheric production, Vesuveo blends boom bap beats and bass lines with live musicians and cut-up bits of world music, dub/reggae, opera, classical, and rare jazz/soul to craft his signature “eerie funk” sound. In addition to his solo album Shine and his 2 instrumental albums, Vesuveo recorded and released 4 albums with Able, Zinndeadly, and DJ Drez as The Anonymous, his Los Angeles based group, all of which he recently re-issued on his Survivor Soul Music label. This year, he’ll drop the 3rd volume of his Survivor Soul Instrumentals series, with more new projects in the works.
