In my 23 years of life, there has never been a more crucial transition period than my return to home from University. Since releasing The GodFather, I’ve creatively struggled forming ideas in a new space. For the first 6 months I truly had nothing to say. I didn’t know what was next for me, and many plans I had envisioned myself quickly became out of reach. After my 23rd birthday I began to reflect more on this transition period by allowing myself to truthfully look back. This album is an exploration of that truth. Here I reveal true thoughts on my time as a leader and my position within my current world. Tracks like Nameless & g.a.t.t.a.c.a directly confront the beautiful hopelessness of finding a job / notoriety as a young person in today’s market. Other tracks like Kopycats, God Complex, and Everyday Replacements directly confront people, ideas, and cultural trends I particularly find culturally destructive. On the other hand, iydmwm, idmwu is a brutally honest look in the mirror. Songs like Never Looked Better sonically embrace my past work through the lens of Gib’s production and energy, while the spacey samples of Almost Autumn and the fun of I don’t get it emulate my recognition of happyness and love during this period.
