Broderick C. Hill Jr better known as ibchill was born in Tennessee and moved to the Saint Louis area at young age. This move served as inspiration for his first beat tape Small Town Living or S.T.L. At 14 he received a Maschine mikro mk2 from then on he trained his skills with the beat machine and experimented with strange sounds to create a nostalgic or dream like vibe. His love of anime can be clearly seen as inspiration for most of the visuals for his chill trap instrumentals. At age 17 he moved to Oakland California to attend SAE Expression. This move served as motivation to take his music a little more seriously. “Change is the only constant” is a quote that he said captures how he feels on his music and life.
