Discovered while still a street musician by Zuzana Navarová in 1993, Raduza would go on to become one of the Czech Republic's leading lights in modern folk music and a collaborator with some of that country's biggest artists and groups. Shortly -- about a year, in fact -- after being discovered, Raduza got her first big live break, opening up for American folk-pop singer Suzanne Vega in Lucerna in 1994. For the next few years, Raduza would work with a number of established groups, including Nerez, Marsyas, and Abraxas. In 1999, she was even an opening act for legendary new age/electronic artist Mike Oldfield. Her coming-out party, of sorts, was planned for 2001, as that year she graduated from her musical studies at the Prague Conservatory and released her debut, Andelové z Nebe (Angels from Heaven). While 2001 was a big year for Raduza, 2003 was the year that brought recognition of all of her hard work: she collaborated with Cymbelin and appeared on a handful of television shows, but her three Golden Angels Awards (the Czech version of the Grammys) would prove to be the folk/chanson artist's standout moment. In addition to winning Singer of the Year, Discovery of the Year, and top honors in the Folk & Country category, Raduza also managed to release the album ...Pri Mne Stuj. The album V Hore followed in 2005, just after her return from a successful tour of France, and in 2007 she released both the V Salonu Barkonich Dam and Vse Je Jednim albums, the former of which hit number one on the Czech album charts. ~ Chris True, Rovi
