Ben Lesser is an accomplished public speaker and successful entrepreneur who has dedicated his life to ensuring that Holocaust education perseveres. His highly acclaimed memoir “Living a Life That Matters: From Nazi Nightmare to American Dream” traces Ben’s journey from young Jewish boy in pre-war Poland, through the 1939 German invasion, and the horrors of the Holocaust. Ben’s story follows his liberation from the Dachau concentration camp in 1945, the reunion with his only surviving family member – to his triumph in building a new home, joyous life and prosperous career in the United States. Ben Lesser is not only one of the few remaining Holocaust Survivors left but one with an incredible unique and inspirational story. He has devoted much of his time to telling his extraordinary story through speaking engagements across the globe. In 2019, over the course of five days at a BMG SoundLab conducted at the historic landmark Villa Aurora in Los Angeles, Holocaust survivor and educator Ben Lesser met with a group of 14 songwriters, producers and artists from the US and Europe to recount his deeply affecting stories of conquering hate and choosing love. Drawing on Lesser’s experiences during the Holocaust and his life, the songwriters and producers went on to write songs that conveyed his message into their music. Lesser joined the sessions, gave feedback and even participated in one song, Zachor, with a recorded Jewish prayer.
