HUMANFOLK is a World Music group with its roots in a project between guitarist-composer Johnny Alegre and the percussionist Susie Ibarra. Together with the drummer Roberto Juan Rodriguez, the singer-multi-instrumentalist Cynthia Alexander, and the electronic musician Malek Lopez, they recorded an extensive suite of compositions by Alegre entitled “Humanfolk”, that subsequently became the name of the concept group. Described in retrospect as HUMANFOLK’s “Mark-I” iteration, the departure of its founding members brought Johnny Alegre to embrace a wider sphere of musical contributors and folk sub-genres with the inclusion of keyboardist-vocalist Abby Clutario, vocalist Kris Gorra-Dancel and world percussionist Tusa Montes, among many other unique talents.
