Spacey is an 18 year old artist from Aurora, Illinois. Striving for versatility in his music, he likes to switch between rap and R&B styles. Growing up, Spacey listened to a lot of hip hop. His family was very into music, so he was introduced to a variety of genres. He recalls listening to a lot of Tupac, James Brown, and Run-D.M.C. Although he started finding an interest in music at a young age, it was not what inspired him to start creating his own. After seeing several family members make music, Spacey started seeing the art in the process, and gaining interest. He expresses, however, that it didn’t really become a complete thought until he was at school, sitting at lunch with his friends, writing raps. It started out as fun, but Spacey started to realize that he was good at writing music, and began taking it more seriously. As far as his style, Spacey cites NBA Youngboy and Kanye West as his two biggest influences. He explained how he finds a lot of vulnerability in some of Youngboy’s music, and is able to switch tones to express more serious messages. He has the same admiration for Kanye, noting that he’s always been able to make timeless music, but is also open about mental health struggles.
