Biography

Q-Ball and Curt Cazal, known collectively as QNC, are pioneers in the world of hip-hop, blending old-school essence with a forward-thinking musical vision. Their journey together spans several decades, with roots in hip-hop’s golden era and strong international collaborations. Curt Cazal began his career with the legendary Long Island group JVC Force, who achieved fame with their iconic hit “Strong Island” in the late 1980s. The track is a timeless anthem that remains a defining moment in hip-hop’s early days. Q-Ball, the other lyrical half of QNC, brings a razor-sharp flow and lyrical precision that complements Curt’s beats and rhymes. Together, they’ve crafted a signature sound rooted in the boom-bap tradition. QNC’s career took off through collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry recording at the legendary D&D Studios in New York, a hotspot for golden-era hip-hop greats. They had huge success on D&Ds label with tracks like Repertoire getting heavy rotation on NY Hot 97. The duo’s tracks have garnered millions of streams across platforms, a testament to their enduring relevance. QNC made a significant mark with their independent releases, such as “Making Moves” and “My Kinda Moves”, which were sold on consignment at the iconic Fat Beats record store, a hub for underground and indie hip-hop. These projects emphasized their DIY ethos and commitment to making authentic hip-hop for true hip hop heads.
