The core story resembles the plot of a supernatural seventies television matinee or even a turn-of-the-century novel. Mixed race twin sisters grow up in a (literally) musical household where the antique piano plays itself in the dead of night. With a sound equally steeped in sun-soaked classic Southern California pop and nineties alternative mystique, twin duo Macedo—Michelle and Melissa—instantly enchant on a series of new singles. Everything stems from their natural sibling connection and otherworldly creative bond. At the top of 2020, they kicked off their next chapter signing to Pasadena Records and working with producer Chris Chu releasing “Stronger Now” and “Can’t Imagine”, both of which got national radio attention. 2023 is set to be a breakout year for Macedo as they gear up to release new music. First up is the upbeat and an instant earworm single, “Block of Ice,” set for release on July 26th. For “Block of Ice” Macedo worked with producer Jules Duke (formerly of the Mystic Braves). They instantly fell in love with his playful style and nostalgic production. They recorded this track in Kyle Mullarky’s studio in the mountains. Their goal for this new song was to put something fun and positive into the world.
