www.mirandacuckson.com Violinist/violist, soloist, collaborator, Miranda Cuckson delights listeners with her exciting playing of music ranging from the newest creations to older pieces. She made her Carnegie Hall debut playing Piston’s concerto with the American Symphony Orchestra. She recently premiered concertos by Georg Friedrich Haas in Tokyo, Stuttgart and Porto and Marcela Rodriguez in Mexico City. Venues include the Berlin Philharmonie, Teatro Colón, Cleveland Museum, SPCO Liquid Music, Miller Theatre, Strathmore, Fromm Concerts at Harvard, and Marlboro, Bard, West Cork, Portland, Music Mountain, Sinus Ton, LeGuessWho festivals. Upcoming: Ojai, Wien Modern, Time Spans Drawing on her perspective as a multi-ethnic American, Miranda works with artists from many backgrounds. She's worked with composers including Dutilleux, Carter, Boulez, Hyla, Mackey, Crumb, Iyer, Saariaho, Davidovsky, and Murail. Among those who've written for her: Mumford, Eckardt, Füting, Lewis, Wang Lu, Lehman, Shirazi, and Meltzer. Her album of Nono’s La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura (Urlicht) was a record of the year in the NY Times. Her Bartók, Schnittke and Lutoslawski is on ECM. Also on Urlicht: Melting the Darkness, solo microtonal and electronics music. Her albums include the Korngold and Ponce concertos and Finney, Shapey, Martino, Carter, Hersch, Glass, Weesner etc She's a member of AMOC, counter)induction, and founder of Nunc. She studied at Juilliard and teaches at Mannes.
