Bulgarian jazz pianist and composer Dimitar Bodurov (1979) shaped his authentic musical signature, combining a solid background in jazz improvisation and classical composition with his love for folklore and electronica. Bodurov’s fascination with folklore evolved in a unique and distinctive style. His solo piano debut Stamps from Bulgaria (2006) marked the beginning of series of compositions based on folklore songs and dances. With his Bodurov Trio he recorded three albums @Stamps from Bulgaria 2008, @Seven stamps (2013), Stamp around (2016), for which All about Jazz wrote: “The exploration on this set of Bodurov's original compositions mixes jazz and Bulgarian folk together in a series of fascinating and enjoyable musical interactions. It's a great sound.“ His upcoming album Solo in Bonn (2019) is a live registration of his concert at Beethoven’s huis in November 2018. A lyrical and virtuosic rendition of free improvisations and original compositions. In 2012 Bodurov founded his own label Optomusic, where he released albums in collaborations with musicians like Theodosii Spassov, Sandip Bhattacharya, Michael Moore and others. As a composer, Bodurov has written mostly chamber works including commissions from Gergiev Festival Rotterdam, LeineRoebana Dance group and Operadagen Rotterdam. Since 2013, Dimitar is a co-founder and artistic director of Radar Festival, Varna, Bulgaria www.dimitarbodurov.com | www.optomusic.com | www.radar-festival.eu
