Salome MC is an Iranian musician, multimedia artist, writer and peace advocate. She is the first woman rapper and hiphop producer of Iran, where she helped shape the hiphop scene in early 2000's. After receiving the MEXT scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education in 2010, Salome moved to Japan where she lived for six years. She got an M.A. in audiovisual arts from Tohoku University of Arts and Design, and expanded her storytelling to multidisciplinary form combining music, performance art and audiovisual installations. Salome has been featured on the Guardian, MTV, and Time magazine, and her artwork have been showcased around the world, including the 56th Venice Biennale and Yale University. In 2016, Salome immigrated to Washington State as a permanent resident, where she produces bilingual music and is a hiphop educator for underserved youth.
