Mark Moore, music producer, DJ and writer. A respected and loved character who’s deeply ingrained in the history of UK Club culture, and is hugely influential on both dance and pop music. Playing a key part in the UK’s house music rise, Mark’s idea to form S'Express was a natural progression from DJing on the club scene. Swept along on a wave of excitement for acid and rave culture, S'Express had a number one chart smash with 'Theme From S'Express'. This was their first of several worldwide hit records which helped thrust these new sounds into the world’s spotlight and positioned dance music/DJ culture as a viable force. Mark’s meteoric rise to fame paved the way for electronic dance music stars to come. As well as his chart hits as S’Express, Mark has remixed Prince, Erasure, Malcolm McLaren, Randy Crawford, Divine & Bobby O, Dead or Alive, The B52s and Soft Cell amongst others. A (surprising) remix/collaboration was with Philip Glass on a version of ‘Hey Music Lover’. With Malcolm McLaren, Mark and William Orbit created the seminal track ‘Deep In Vogue’ (Billboard Dance Chart number 1) which sampled the film ‘Paris Is Burning’ and no doubt influenced the Madonna Song ‘Vogue’ a year later. In 2021 Mark Moore contributed a chapter about Quentin Crisp for The Queer Bible book. Compiled by Jack Guinness with contributions from Elton John, Graham Norton, Munroe Bergdorf and more. Also available as an audiobook with Mark’s dulcet tones delivering his chapter.
