"Because if we don't see the chains, we won't be able to break them" Gorka Suaia is a basque hip hop-reggae and junglist singer and producer based in Bilbao, Basque Country. He got hooked on hip-hop in the late nineties and it is one of his teachings that has accompanied him since then: music should be a tool for social transformation. After shotting flows for almost a decade with his colleagues from Kodigo Norte, in 2012 begins his most personal journey creating Askapen Sound (his production alias) and publishing Mundua Salgai, a self-produced album that remixes in a live dub set, and which leads him to participate in the Bolivarian Song Festival in Venezuela, and join to the Gora Tour of Esne Beltza across Europe. In 2015 publishes Herrima with Endika Lahaine and a year later Piztu! Mixtape mixed by Dj KimoSoundz, a good summary of his career, conscious working-class lyrics with sounds that go from sound system scene to jungle d&b or dancehall, as always published by Taupaka (association of multidisciplinary self-managed artists) under Crative Commons license. It is at the end of 2018 when he presents his most succesfull album with Ama Rebel reggae band: Raggamuffin Kamarada, recorded by Roberto Sanchez in Lone Ark, available on vinyl just like the remix album released in 2020, with remixes from producers like Antxon Sagardui or Chalart58.
