Avant-rock veteran Richard Youngs, experimental artist Luke Fowler, Norwegian jazz double bassist Michael Francis Duch, and Franz Ferdinand drummer Paul Thomson are all known for making very different types of music, but their work together as AMOR is a surprising venture into sprawling, left-field neo-disco. Releases such as 2018's full-length debut Sinking Into a Miracle contain lengthy work-outs consisting of locked-in rhythms and Youngs' clear, optimistic vocals. The Glasgow-based quartet's debut 12", Paradise/In Love an Arc, was released by Night School in 2017, and was soon followed by Higher Moment/Amnesia. All four songs on these singles were free-flowing disco epics, each exceeding ten minutes in length.
