Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen is a Danish / Faroese violinist, composer and arranger. He started playing the violin at the age of 5 and has since studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Rune has also trained as an organist at Sjællands School of Church Music. Rune is one of the founding members of the Danish String Quartet. The Grammy-nominated quartet won the 2009 London International String Quartet Competition and is today one of the leading chamber music ensembles in the world. In October 2013, Rune was awarded the Crown Prince Couple's Rising Star Award at a large-scale show at the Sydney Opera House where Rune performed with his trio Dreamers’ Circus. In 2020 the trio won three Danish Music Awards Roots: Album of the Year, Composer of the Year and Track of the Year for their album Blue White Gold. From 2008-2013, Rune worked as concertmaster in Copenhagen Phil. As a composer, Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen has written music for Before the Frost (2019) and the TV series The Investigation (2020).
